Welcome to our Dance School
BharathakShetra School of Dance teaches Kalaksethra style of Bharathanatyam and is located in Chandler, Arizona. Bharathanatyam is one of the oldest and the most beautiful classical dance forms of India. It is a display of complex foot work and a sophisticated vocabulary of sign language based on gestures of hands and facial expressions.
The dance has traditionally been a form of an interpretive narration of mythical legends and spiritual ideas from the Hindu texts.
To keep up with culture and tradition all kids enrolled at Bhrathakshetra are encouraged to wear the uniform provided by our school. Currently with the ongoing COVID -19 situation all classes/recitals are held online through Webex Sessions.
Interested adults/kids can sign up for trial sessions.
Having started dance at a very young age under the tutelage of Guru Sri J. Suryanarayanamoorthy and pursuing the art for over 30 years now - Dance is an integral part of me.
All these years I have had the opportunity to perform in various stages and temples across south India and was blessed to have been selected as one of the dancers to represent India for a cross country cultural exchange program in Mauritius. The most unique opportunity was to be part of a Bharatanatyam dance for the song "Nila Kaigiradhu" in the Tamil movie Indra. After moving to the Arizona, I have had the opportunity to perform with some of the valley dance teachers and also solo performances across the valley.
Bharathakshetra is a reflection of my childhood home, which was a dance school by itself which shaped a lot of kids. Bharathakshetra was conceived with the mission to pass down this rich heritage to the future generations across different cultures. Motivation, diligence and hard work are the key to a be successful dancer and Bharathakshetra will provide a great platform for anyone to pursue the art.
